The 17th anniversary of Tajikistan’s Independence Day coincided with the 7th annual general meeting of the Payvand society. Main venues for Independence Day pageantry were the historical city of Panjkent and the mausoleum of Rudaki in Panjrood. The international conference dedicated to the works and achievements of Rudaki was held in Dushanbe. Main venues were the Academy of Science and the Institute of Oriental Studies. Out of 136 scholars expected to present papers in the conference, a handful could not attend for personal reasons or visa complications.
